MFA on O365 Account

 

User side setup

After MFA is enabled. The user will see this prompted to setup their authentication after logging into the O365 portal

There are three options

1. SMS or phone call to cell phone

2. Call the office number

3. Use Microsoft authenticator app

Click Set up

 

Setting up the app. This page will provide a link to the smartphone app stores.

In the Microsoft authenticator app, you will add a Work or school account.

Scan the QR code to add the account.

On the Configure mobile app screen click Next

 

 

The phone app will ask for approval. Once you approve the login the Set up button will be gray and the app will be configured.

Click Next.

 

 

   

 

 

 

You will need to input a secondary verification method. The team in Bangalore can use their cell phone for this.

The app password is very important. Copy it and save it.

This password will be used for the desktop version of Outlook and Skype for Business.

 

 

Change MFA Type at Sign in

After entering your email address and password you will be prompted for the MFA.

Click on Sign in another way to see your available options.

*You may need to use this method on your smartphone.

 

 

 

 

Changes or Additions After Setup is Complete

If you lose the app password or need to change your access methods.

In the O365 dashboard click on your initals or image in the upper right corner.

Click on My account

On the left side of the screen click on Security and privacy.

Then click on Additional security verification.

         

 

Click on Update your phone numbers used for account security to add or change verification options.

 

 

 

To add or remove app passwords click on Create and manage app passwords
